Lip Product Swatches (Duty-Free Day)

Hey all! Finally I have the post with the swatches for the lip products of the duty-free haul. Enjoy!

Lorac Lotsa Lip Plumping lipgloss in Foxy & Trixy:

Foxy is kind of a hard colour to describe for me. It's like a muted red colour, but it's in the same colour family as a burgundy, although lighter. Do you get what I mean? It's odd really, but the photos will show you exactly what I mean.

Trixy is definitely easier to describe lol. A lovely lilac shimmer. A lilac gloss, weird you know, but it actually looks great on the lips on it's own. Both  of these glosses have a slightly pearly finish and microglitters. Neither of them feel grainy, but go one really smooth and are very high shine. They first time I tried it on, the brush-tip applicator tricked me into squeezing out too much of the product, so the colour was very strong and rich.

Merry Christmas and Gift Cards!

Image is not my own.
Hey everyone, Merry Christmas! How's your Christmas going? By this time most of you have probably been stuffed full of food and are barely able to get out of your seats. Especially for those of us here in Barbados, the ham has been carved lovely and stacks upon stacks have reached our plates and filled our stomaches :). Makes me happy to think about ham.

Christmas is a time of stress and craziness but amidst all the Christmas rush and madness, we have to remember the reason for the season, which is Jesus Christ and His coming. So I hope you all remembered Him this year, because without Him, there would be no need for  gifts, or carols, no new curtains or even our beloved ham.

To Him with Love- Outfits & Pets

Hello lovely people, it's coming down to the last stretch of the crazy Holiday shopping. Have you gotten something for everyone on your list but still cant find the right this for your boyfriend? Well it's your lucky day :) (Seriously, I sound like an advertisement....)  But anyway!

What guy doesn't like to look absolutely handsome in a nice pair of slacks and a cool shirt? I kow many guys actually prefer to look very relaxed daily, but when they go out it's all about that wow-factor, just like us girls. You know what makes guys feel even more special, wearing a nice outfit, knowing that their lady gave them one of their new favourite pieces.

Guys love Outfits
Get your guy something to suit his tastes, and if it's hard to find somethin gyou know he'll love, you can take him shopping with you for this gift. Though it might ruin the surprise of the present, you get time to bond and enjoy each other'ss company for the day. (Mind you, during the Holidays shopping can be rather stressful, but it's still plausible to have a good time.)

Guys love Pets

Another thing guys love... PETS! Cats, Dogs, fish, turtles/tortoises, iguanas, hammers, birds... the list is partically endless. A pet is a good companion, and it teaches responsiblilty too. It'd be like you and your boyfriend's little baby to spoil :). Pets are also great when it comes to sharing emotions, so it's really a plus for comforting your boyfriend when you're not there. Don't only give a great gift, give a pet a home :) You can check out the RSPCA and the newspaper classifieds for pets in need of homes.

If your boyfriend already has a pet or you already share one, why not give it a gift. It's always nice to receive something you need and the same goes for pets, a special treat, a new toy something along those lines.

I really think that pets are a great gift to give and share with your guy, they allow you to bond and your relationship can grow from it, as you both learn to take care of someone other then yourself or your significant other.

Enjoy your Holiday shopping and hope you find the perfect gift! ( I have just one more exam... FINALLY!!!)

PS: Just one more instalment in this series, kind of last minute gift ideas for both males and females.

To Her with Love- Jewellery & Literature

Hello!! I should actually be sleeping or studying right now, but I've had this gift ideas seriesgoing on for quite sometime and would like to finish in time for Christmas Eve. Last minute shopping is always the most crazy!

Still trying to figure out what to get your girlfriend? How about a classic like JEwellery. Of course remember to stay within your price range because many times after Christmas we are all broke, but the world still goes on and we still have stuff to pay for.

Ladies love jewellery

I'm not going to speak too extensively on types of jewellery pieces or quality, because I'm definitely not an expert on it, haha. But do get her something nice, that she'd like. As I've said all along this series, pay attention to what she's wearing and you'll get a good idea of what to buy. Some women really like delicate pieces while others like more bold statement jewellery. Always ask the sale representative to help you out, that's what they're there for, and most times they do a great job at it.

Ladies Love Literature

From very young, girls love reading. I guess it's just one of those things that doesn't change over time. One girl may prefer romantic novels over a fashion magazine or a crafty DIY book, but the bottomline is women love to read.

You can get your girlfriend a year-long magazine subscription, or that boxed set of her favourite series so she can read all the sequels. You can get electronic books even, I'm sure with the right book, she'll love her gift.

A nice touch is adding a bookmark with a little note from you, she'll cherish it forever. OR you could write in the front of the book, but I wouldn't suggest that in case she wants to recycle her books or even return the book if she already as it.  With a bookmark, she can always have it in every book she reads.

I hope you're all enjoying your Holidays thus far... Mine haven't officially started. I have 2 more exams... sigh :(. But anyway... just 2 more posts on gift ideas. One more for the guys and finally a post on last minute gifts. (Might put a round -up after I'm finished)

Happy Christmas!

Huge make up haul! (Duty-free day!)

Hey all! This post is going to me very picture-loaded! Iwent shopping on Duty-free Day (9th December), and believe me when I say that was the best thing for some one like me who was always eyeing the cosmetics in Cave Shepherd. I didn't splurge on M.A.C. or any of the department store brands available in store, but instead drifted towards the Revlon products. Some awesome lip products I had heard many gurus rave about. (I still don't think I'm ready to completely step into M.A.C, especially not with the prices here lol).

I planned ahead and went to town a day earlier, so I could take into account the available items and the prices. I was extremely excited about the whole thing from the Monday I heard about it. Of course I made my list of stuff so I didn't forget anything and checked swatches online. That's always a good idea when you're going out shopping for new make up.

The lines were long in Cave Shepherd despite leaving home early (arriving around 10 a.m. I think), but I braved the wait for the love of make up and bargains! Onto the HAUL! All Swatches of lip products will be included in another post.

To Him With Love- Entertainment

Hey all! Time to find the perfect gift for your guy! Why not ENTERTAIN him? Take you mind out of the gutter... I'm talking about new video games, his favourite movie, that kind of thing! (Again I'll be keeping this nice and brief.. hahah brief)
Gift Ideas- Entertainment

So your guy already has the "perfect" game consoler, but he's always playing the same thing. For one of his favourite games is bringing out a new version that he's been raving about from the time he read the article online. Why not get him it, he might love you forever LOL!

Now I don't know much about games actually, havent played any action games in quite some time, I doubt I would be anyway, unless it's Smash brothers, does that count? Anyway, I did some research and it showed the games I have pictured are very popular. I know just dance has been pretty popular because a lot of YouTubers have been submitting their videos to the contest that was going on. That looks like a fun bonding game. As always, Call of Duty (COD), which I personally dont see the fascination with it, it's boring (yes crazy comments now), but it is really beating some sales.

I'll tell you this, keep your ear to the wall when your guys and his buds are talking about games, you just might find out what he's been lusting.

On the other hand, your guy isn't really into games, but loves a good movie.Yes girls our definition of a good movie may not apply, but that's why some of us like guys, because they're differenent from us.

So put in the necessary research and you should be ble to come up with his favourite move, or a music he was coveting on dvd or bluray. Who knows, you could watch it together and bond :). The possibiltieis are endless!

Happy Holidays! (and Good Luck in Exams for those still doing them!

To Her With Love- Fragrance & Nails

Hey all! I'm back to give you a few more ideas on what to get your girlfriend this Christmas. I'll try to be as brief as possible because I have some studying and sleeping to do hahaha.

Nail polish is a nice easy gift once you know the colours or brand your lady is into. It's always fun to get a new nail polish to try out and play with.  Not every girl might like nail polish but, every girl loves perfume right? And there's one to suit every woman out there, and your tastes too guys. Like I have been saying in basically every post, the item you choose depends on your loved one's personality and tastes.

What I'm lusting: Beauty Holiday Wishlist!

Hey all! I haven't wrote a post focussing on actual beauty recently or myself for that matter. I've tried to keep off of the crazy school work rants, which I'm sure you're thanking me for. School has been hectic to say the least, and everything is finally winding down nicely with exams on the way. Of course there's a bit of stress for exams, but I'm trying to stay calm (we all know that can be pretty hard!).

In this post I'm going to be completely lustly and a tad selfish, hahaha I've warned you. I present to you my wishlist for Christmas.

Honesty, I'm pretty much always looking at beauty related stuff and liking some new thing or the other, but I always forget or don't see the need to actually keep a physical list. Some of these things have been on my mind, and seeing that I'm in the blogging mood, why not share a few with you all. You can also comment on what you've been lusting after for the Holidays or just in general. It's always interesting to see what others like.

Disclaimer: None of the images are my own of course, I'd probably have my own images if these things were mine hahah. (Used Polyvore for the collages)

Independence in Barbados- Symbols & National Emblems

Hey all! It's a very special month for residents of Barbados. November is the month of independence! In this post, I will be describing the national embellems, while in another post I will speak about the delicacies consumed and festivals which occur during Independence.

Around 1961, Barbados had been granted internal autonomy, thus making the attainment full independence from Britain was an easier task, and on the rainy night of 30th November 1966, Barbados was granted constitutional freedom from Great Britain, our Mother country, thanks to Mr. Errol Walton Barrow.

The British Queen acts as the Head of State, represented in the island by the Governor General, however the real power lies in the hands of the Prime Minister and his Parliamentary Government.

In 1966, a national competition was held in order to select a flag, pledge and national anthem for the soon independent Barbados. From this competition, we emerged with our beloved aquamarine (blue), gold and black flag and a host of proud Barbadian embellems.

For Her with Love- Lippies

Hey everyone, I have not posted in such a long time! Well it's coming onto Christmas soon and my boyfriend suggested that a blog about gift ideas for your significant other. I should hopefully updating this with alternating segments for girls and guys. Do enjoy the first post ...Ladies first!

What girl doesn't love lip products? Even if it's just a simple lipbalm, we all do. It's one of the most perfect gifts a guy can get for his girl. The best part is, when she wears it, it feels like she's wearing it just for you. (Great deal you know?)

Happy Birthday BABE!!!

This is a special post to someone who has been hinting to me to write about them, or mention them in posts and videos. Many of you may not have realised because I have only been subtly placing hints about this person in my videos and even a few posts.

This person's been keeping me sane (or insane as they like to say), pushing me on from the shadows, inspiring me daily, making me happy when I'm freaking out (dreaded school work), keeping me smiling with their absolute silliness. Always being enteraining. They've even been trying to expland my music knowledge into Rap.. like come on.. what's wrong with liking Pop?  :P haha.

He's been waiting for me after classes just so we get to spend our special time to talk about our day and things bothering us. He's been trying to replace my bestest friends, Ash and Shanele, which I will be reminding him that he hasn't, so ha!

OY, this is getting so sappy...but I'll go on.

This guy has been looking out for me, taking care of me, making sure I'm always ontop of my studies, even through some crazy late nights.. where I tend to fall asleep hahahah. Mind you, I was used to taking care of myself, with the help of my family and my closest friends, but it's really been very refreshing with this person.

This person is my boyfriend and I can definitely say that I'm extremely happy that he's in my life now, it has been a really fun time with you here, and I don't regret it for a second. The perfect timing :)

Dancing in empty carparks, playing mobile phone golf, cheesy romantic lines, ....My spotlight stealer.

TYRELL, you finally have an entire post on my blog and it's for your birthday ^__^.  SO now you can't charge me for using your "fame" in this one hahahaha.

Like Fall, I'm back!

Hey all! I haven't posted in too long. I could say school had me very busy, but I also think I was at a stand still in my blogging creativity. You know that feeling when you have to write an essay and you cannot think about what to write about?

Essentially, I'm trying to say writter's block. I did get close enough to the computer to perhaps blog something, but there was nothing I felt to blog about. Maybe my brain was too exhausted with all of this work that I'm see everyday. The poor life of a student. MEH.

Anyway, I've been trying to keep up with my work and I've made a video or two (just editing that takes a while and you cant exactly do that at school). I've also been trying my hardest to keep up-to -date with my subscriptions because then I have lists like 200 videos long. That's a lot of hours watching videos.

I find that I can mix my work with pleasure sometimes, and while I'm at school busily working, I tune into some YouTube goodness. I find it easier to watch YouTube videos than to watch a TV show which sometimes draws on my full attention. Not saying that I don't play attention to the videos I'm watching, but honestly, it's easier listening. I absolutely love my YouTube Subscriptions :)!

That was my little update on my unannounced hiatus. Posts should be returning soon, I have struck some inspiration thanks to a special someone, and hopefully work doesn't get too much in the way now. The semester's winding down and although I still have assignments and some tests.. then exams UGH...
I need to get onto this blog and talk to you guys. I feel so bad about not blogging regularly, but I try will not overwhelm you with posts, I promise! We all have work to do haha. SoI'm out for now!

Please enjoy your weekend!

Cleaning Brushes or Studying?

Hey all! An update for this week. It's been hectic, good, bad, stressful, everything! But regardless, the week is almost over and I'm happy to see some friends and hopefullyYouTube this weekend. I have tons of tests, assignments and other things to hand in for this week yet again, but I hope to survive it. I also would like to wish you all the best in your mid-terms and luck with any assignments, labs and coursework.

I recently posted a video on cleaning make up brushes. It took forever to upload and after many aborts and upload fails, it's finally there. So be sure to check it out and tell me what you think. Do you clean your brushes or do you just be lazy about it, like I sometimes am?

I promised to do the fall-trends make up look from Seventeen magazine, and I will definitely get on that this weekend. If you don't see that video sometime this week or next week, you have all rights to scold me, beacuase a promise is a promise.

So, I think that's all I really had to say in this post. My brain is kind of fried hahaha.

Leighton Meester's Wonderstruck Tutorial!

Hey all! Finally I've been able to film Leighton Meester's look from the Lovestruck by Vera Wang advertisement. Let me just say this, the ad was very pretty and girly, with romantic stylings, befitting the title of the new fragrance. Leighton wore a beautiful burgundy strapless dress with a mermaid-styled skirt. I'm not sure if the dress was taffeta, chiffon or organza, but it was very pretty an flowy and the styling reminded me of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl (the show that made me love Meester so much). I'm sure like many other people who watch the show, we were hoping that the main guy was Ed Westwick, but oh well.

Been M.I.A. again and Foundation!

Hey all, I promised myself I wouldn't neglect my blog or my Youtube and that I wouldn't blame it on school... but I've negelect them both :(. It's my fault and I admit it, sometimes it's hard to blog when you have other things on your mind as my fellow bloggers would know. I really would like to apologise for my absence and hopefully this weekend I can record the tutorials I had promised in the previous post.

In case any of you were actually wondering, school is not going to bad. The work isn't always pleasant, but I have good friends haha. I'm sure I would have gone insane already if not for them. So to all of my friends and people I recently met, THANKS for keeping me sane ^__^
Special thank you to certain special people too heheheh.

I'm actually supposed to be doing Chemistry assignments and a lab write up now, but I really think after all this crazy studying, my brain has had enough of this. For any other Chemistry majors.. or Science majors in general, I feel your pain.
It feels like all I've been doing is sleeping every day I got home. It's insane lol. Staying ahead, or even just there in classes is a lot of work and I wish you all the best for this semester, in case I haven't said that in another post.

As I knew I would, I got lazy about doing my nails haha, but I hope to paint them this weekend. Not sure what colour yet, but any suggestions please leave them in the comments :).

I've been trying something different this month, beauty-wise. I'm sure most people know about foundation, but we also know it can be pretty heavy on the skin. I dont think I would need to wear foundation everyday, but on those days (like today when you mess up your sleep schedule) and you need a pick me up, I found that foundation works wonders. But not in the regular way of applying your foundation. Instead I've been using it as a tinted moisturiser by adding a small amount to my regular face moisturiser.

It's actually not that obvious because it's sheer coverage, but it definitely makes you look like you've slept. Then to add some warmth to your face, though trust me the Sun does a good job too haha, I would apply some bronzer, and then finsh with a lipgloss.  There you have it, a quick easy pick me up for school. I may post a picture sometime later, I'll keep you posted.

Hope everyone is surviving the semester well, just had to do a bit of checking in because I feel like I've been gone forever (especially without a word). But hopefully I'll be back banging out videos and posts like bang bang boom. LOL

Have a great weekend! ^_^

MMM shots, now I'd have one of those right about now haha.

Tutorials coming this Month!

Hey all! I have been fairly M.I.A. this month and I really would like to apologise for that. I'm not going to blame it on school, but rather my own mind. Sometimes inspiration for a good post is hard to come by.

I had planned a special post in appreciation of my friends and supporters, which showcased a video. However I will be re-filming or re-editing pieces of this video, before I release it. (This will not be made available on my YouTube however, just here on this blog.)

A number of tutorials will also be coming up, with a everyday looks I've tried as well as a celebrity- look from a recent perfume advertisement. I still plan on recreating a fall trends make up look with metallics as seen in Seventeen Magazine for September. Another look which I would love to try out is Adele's classic look, so be on the look out for that as well.

Until next post, have a great day and an awesome week!

Candy Sprinkled Fall NOTW

Hey all! It's been a while since my last NOTW, this week I wanted a darker colour, but still wanted it to be fun. Last week I had actually tried colour- blocking my nails and I had received a ton a nice compliments. (Thank you btw). I think I may redo that nail design later this month, because I did like it a lot and it was actually really easy.

For Fall, metallics, plums, jewel-tones, glitters and warm tones are in. The closest I have to plums at least is e.l.f. Nail polish in "Royal Purple", which in fact is very similar to Ruby Kisses "Purple Fever". However, the e.l.f is much more opaque.
Although I wanted a more fall look, here in Barbados it still is Summer (well then again, it's practically Summer all year-round hahah), I added some fun multicoloured glitter polish (Wet N Wild "469-Hallucinate") and finished of with a protecting clear top coat! The glitter makes me think of cupcakes hehehe.

Voila, quick and easy, but fun nails.

I actually find that since I've been painting my nails I feel a bit more motivated during classes. Maybe it's the colours. Or maybe it's the fact that I am thinking about what I should paint them the next week. hahaha. Hopefully I can keep up with painting or at least caring my nails every week for this semester. That definitely would be and accomplishment for me!

What colours are you rocking for this week? Or even for fall? What are your current favourite nail trends?

100 Days with Mr. Arrogant ~Asian Candy~

Hey all! How many of you are enjoying school so far? *chirp chrip* I admit it, I'm not either. But what a better way to lift your spirits about school than with a bit of ~Asian Candy~ MMMMmmm! This month, I 'll be keeping it light with a Korean movie (because we all have homework, or lab write-ups or.. something really lame we should be doing for class).

Let's get down to it!

Nitty Gritty on Maintaining Nice Nails

Hey all! Reacently I haven't done any nail posts because I have given my nails a bit of a break from nail polish and buffing them shiny. Sometimes buffing nails too often causes them to wear down and be very thin and fragile. Although the effect of shiny smooth nails is nice, it is also very damaging. Sometimes when I am going to paint my nails, I maytexure them with a file to give the nail polish a good surface to adhere to. (I actually learnt that from someone who did nails a long time ago.) But the problem with this is that similar to buffing your nails, it thins the nail to a frail, thin state.

Turquatic Aquatic Tutorial!

Hey all! This weeks has taken a much better turn since last post, I'm so pleased! Anyway, I was requested to do  a blue and green look by LeyaHollingsworth and Amorpuppy1 and I also happened to stumble across the Turquatic fragrance M.A.C. Cosmetics had recently released. I love the packaging of it, but as far as reviews have shown, the scent is not as pretty as the bottle. See more about M.A.C.'s turquatic here on Temptalia! or more here!

So on Saturday I played with my new Coastal Scents eyeshadows (swatches here) and I came up with a cut-crease eye look which I really liked.
Luckily enough for you, I am going to be doing sneak previews here on my blog! So here we go! WHen the video finally loads I will be posting it here as well. ENJOY!

A Solemn Word on Provocation

Hey all, this weekend was not very good for me and the week has started out on a fairly dull note as well, but I would like to halt it before it continues, so I am going to write this post in hopes of clearing these thoughts off my mind and hopefully this also helps someone else out there because this is something that frustrates me so much.
Monday and this whole weekend in general, I had a bad attitude. Yes. I know and I am genuinely sorry if you happened to cross my path and I was not very pleasant. There's no need for excuses as such and I'd rather speak a bit on how people provoke you to anger and expect you never to crack.

Coastal Scents ROUND UP!

Hey all! Here's a round up of the Coastal Scents Hot pot swatches! One things is for sure, these are great quality for the money, especially for newbies like myself.

The palette can get a bit messy after a few uses, but that can be cleaned. Also, you have to becareful when putting these in and taking them out because if you drop them they're very likely to break. Even dropping the palette can break them although the palette is very sturdy. I happened to drop my palette right after I was finished (such a klutz) and it broke to of them, but I was able to fix them back with alcohol  afterwards, so that was good.

If you have a problem with broken eyeshadows and you don't know how to fix them i could do a video on it to help you out. Just post a comment on this post for that.

Disclaimer: These products were bought with my money. Opinions are my own.

Coastal Scents Hot Pot Swatches- Purples & Greens!

Hey all! Recently Coastal Scents had some sales, and I picked out some cool eyeshadow pots, also known as hot pots by CS. You choose 12 and you get the free palette, or you could just buy them separate. Either way I choose 15 colours. Here's a comprehensive view of them all. BTW, these are highly pigmented. I did not even use a base or primer. For some colours I also did not bother to take photos with flash because it was very true to colour. I am going to do this in 2 posts.

 Let the FUN begin!

They came packaged like this and in a zip-lock bag:
Some of my pots dropped while they were in the packaging, so if you see any with scratched or odd looking surfaces that's why.

Coastal Scents Hot Pot Swatches- Neutrals & Brights!

Hey all! Recently Coastal Scents had some sales, and I picked out some cool eyeshadow pots, also known as hot pots by CS. I choose 15 colours, in the first post there are the first 8, purples and greens. I'll be continuing with neutrals and bright colours in this post.
If you did not see the first post check it out here!

BTW, these are highly pigmented. I did not even use a base or primer. For some colours I also did not bother to take photos with flash because it was very true to colour.

Rihanna gets LOUD in Barbados!!

Hey all! I had the opportunity to attend the LOUD in Barbados Concert and I definitely enjoyed myself!
Before I left I tried to film a bit of an OOTD because the way the time was running, the Sun would have set when we had reached Kensington Oval, and then I might not have been able to film. That being said, you would think that taking pictures of my outfit would have been an obvious thing too. But no, silly me forgot to take pictures ahaha. Eitherway there's the video and I still have the dress and accessories, so I might just take a picture of me in them at some point and post.

Oh yes, for those wondering about my outfit, the dress and earrings were from the Cinnamon Store in Barbados, and I did my make up using the BH cosmetics 88 matte palette and a single Botanics eyeshadow. If you'd like to see a tutorial on the look, just post it in a comment :). My mom and I did my hair.. tried something we'd never done before.. putting on braids, I think it came off pretty well ^__^!

One pic I took while waiting for my sis

 What I wore:
  • Blue Ruffled One shoulder Dres- Cinnamon Store (Barbados)
  • Black Patent Leather Bow Pumps- Nine West
  • Dangly Leaves and Chains earrings- Cinnamon Store (Barbados)
  • Silver strappy sandles (extra shoes haha always a good idea for standing concerts)- Super Styles Shoe Shop
  •  Black patent leather purse- XOXO

First Shop Coffee Prince! ~Asian Candy~

Hey all! This is the first in hopefully many monthly posts of your ~Asian Candy~! This name is not meant to offend in any way. Asian Drama of the Month is a bit much to type and sounds laughable when abbreviated, if you see what I mean. (ADOTM??)

Every month I will be posting a drama or movie suggestion, usually one I have watched before or I am currently watching. I will try not to include too many spoilers until the end of the month or the next ~Asian Candy~ post where I will elaborate a bit on the previous month's drama. Hopefully, you like this kind of thing and will watch along with me, what ever the case is, your feedback is definitely valued.
These posts will usually include links from www.mysoju.com and information from http://wiki.d-addicts.com/

Onto this month's Drama!

Crop Over Winners!

Hey all!
Here’s the follow up post on Crop Over, with as much information as I could find on the winners for most of the competitions.

As I mentioned in my Crop Over video, there are many contests which go on during Crop Over such as the Pic-o- De Crop calypso competition. This year, David “Popsicle” Hall from the House of Soca won the contest with the two calypsos ‘Pick a Fair’ and ‘Aint Selling Cornwell’ beating out the previous monarch and veteran Gabby.

Just like the adults, the children also get their chance to take part in the calypso arena and annually, the Junior Calypso Monarch is held. This year in the 8-12yrs category, Carrie-Lynn “Carrie G” Grazette sang ‘Sing My Song’ to beat out the competition by a mere 6 points. While in the 13- 18 age category, Samantha “Sammi G” Greaves won with ‘Protect Yahself’ a song targeted towards AIDS awareness.

The "Blackman Look" Blooper Reel!!

Hey all! Here is the awaited blooper reel from The Blackman Look.

It's actually not as horrible as he thought and is only about a minute long so yay! I think he did a good job on the make up, he kept asking me the entire time.  But he did well without much direction.. except for the blush hahah, you'll see what I mean hahah.

Btw this video is exclusive to my blog so you shouldn't see it on my channel. Should I do more posts with videos exclusive to my blog?

Also here is the video from the Blackman Look.

Hey all! I painted my nails extra sparkly this Friday because I was going to ... the Rihanna LOUD in Barbados Concert! Let me just tell you this, the haters must have been converted by the end of the show, because she was awesome, amazing, gorgeous, fantastic, fabulous, and really showed her talent and love of music last night. I was thoroughly impressed and especially glad to be there, even if I was not in VIP or VVIP. I felt specially and touched by her performance, she really brought home the best. I am truly proud to be a bajan and one of her fans, especially after last night!

Anyway more on the show later, on to the nails!

NEW Posts coming soon!

Hey all! I have a backlog of posts and videos coming up. It's been a great week, so expect a lot.

The next post will be a NOTW.

The "Blackman look" make up tutorial will have the bloopers posted on here because it is actually a pretty short video, so if you want to see that, follow this blog!  ^_^

Following the bloopers, there will be a post on Crop Over in general, to continue the previous post.

I went to the Rihanna Loud in Barbados concert yesterday and I will definitely be doing a post on it. One sad thing that I forgot was to actually take a full body picture of my outfit hahahaha. BUT! I did do an outfit of the day and hopefully it came out better than the first two times I had filmed it lol.

So stay tuned and have a happy healthy weekend!

Crop Over in Barbados!

Hey all! This is a post on Crop Over. A bit late considering the big events are going to be taking place all this weekend, but I really wanted to write this post to give you a bit of insight into Crop Over, The Sweetest Summer Festival!
Crop Over is a month long festival celebrated from 1st July until 1st or 2nd of August. Traditionally a harvest festival, Crop Over dates back to the colonial period when Barbados’ main industry was  Sugar cane production.  At the end of the sugar season, there was always a huge celebration to mark the end of another successful sugar cane harvest, hence the name Crop Over. The festival featured singing and dancing and other traditions included climbing a greased pole, feasting and drinking competitions.

As the sugar industry in Barbados declined, Crop Over also lost its splendour and by the 1940's, the festival was terminated completely. However, Crop Over was revived in 1974 and other elements of Barbadian culture were infused to make the extravaganza that exists today.  A festival that now attracts thousands of people from across the globe and is the main event of any Bajan calendar. Crop Over- The Sweetest Summer Festival!
The festival begins with the Ceremonial Delivery of the Last Canes. The final sugarcane crops are blessed and a special Gala accompanies this event, where the Crop Over season is officially deemed open. Local performances by singers, musicians and dancers are showcased at this event. Queen’s Park where it usually takes place, is also prepared for local vendors to show off and retail their craft.
Some of the notable events are:
·         Pan Pun De Sand
·          Pan in the City
·          Junior Calypso Monarch
·         Kiddies Kadooment
·         Folk Heritage Concert
·         Gospel Concert
·          Sweet Soca Monarch and Party Monarch (collectively known as Soca Royale)
·         Pic-o-de-Crop Finals
·         Cohobblopot
·         Bridgetown Market
·         Foreday Morning Jam
·         Grand Kadooment
Grand Kadooment is the biggest, most colourful street party in Barbados and signals the end of the Crop Over season until the next year.

A day of unbridled merriment played out in costumes depicting the fantasies of the world. The ‘jump’ is the final activity of a season that makes Crop Over, The Sweetest Summer Festival!

Coming Soon to this blog and more!

Hey all, I feel like I have posted on my blog for a good while! Hope you're all doing lovely and enjoying your summer!
Recently I have had some ideas to keep my blog and YouTube channel more creative and consistent. Here are a couple of the ideas I came up with.

  • Asian Drama of the Month: I had actually started this on my channel but I had forgot.. and then I couldnt pick a drama each month I did remember. BUT I promise I will try to keep this consistent starting in August. Still trying to figure out if I should do it on my blog or on my YouTube channel.

  • Nails of the Week or Month: This I am really going to try for because I like seeing nail polish on my nails, but I'm lazy to paint it on my nails because I have such a hard time painting -__-. Anyway, I'll try what I can.

  • Celebrity-Inspired Make up looks: I have always loved to watch these kind of videos and I would really like to try them as well. It's amazing how gurus are able to create such a close look to the original. I definitely need suggestions for looks to try out, so don't hestitate to send me some pictures or links.

  • Current Festivals in Barbados: I would like to highlight the happens in Barbados so people know what my island has to offer, I also think its fun to watch vlogs, so this should be interesting. I was going to make a blogpost on Crop Over soon, that should be up by the end of the week and should be a really long post giving a taste of the festival, the music, some basic information etc.

  • Favourites of the Month: This one basically speaks for itself, I'm going to try to have new products that I liked to use during that month. Sometimes I'm sure the products will be the same, but we'll see how it goes.
Think that's all for now everyone, any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

Green with Envy! The Green Smokey

Hey everone, I filmed this make up tutorial and would love for you to check it out when it finally uloads to YouTube! Here's a bit of a preview!

I woke up on Sunday with this idea in my head and I decided to try it out before I made a video on it. It actually came out pretty good considering it is green, not one of my favourite colours, but I really do think it looks beautiful here.

On Tuesday, I filmed the tutorial but my camera did something wonky and deleted the file from the computer, when I was adding importing another video (which you'll actually see quite soon). I wore Boots Botanics lipstick in Comfrey during the first video, however when I came to refilm on Wednesday, I could not find that lipstick, so I used a more red lip colour. For this look, I think a more subdued and natural lipcolour is better as it leaves room for the  eyes to be admired. So if you try this out I suggest a natural or nude colour.

I realised this look also looks a lot more smokey in real life than on camera, but it might be my camera settings, so I'll have to figure that out.

What I used for this look:
  • Botanics Soothing and Calming Eye Base
  • Boots No. 7 Eye Mousse- Lilac
  • BH Cosmetics 88 Matte Palette
  • KleanColor Shimmery eye palette- moss green
  • Starry eye shadow palette- bright shimmery green
  • Black Kohl liner
  • Botanics Lash Defining Mascara- Black Brown
  • Avon automatic brow pencil- Tawny
  • e.l.f Radiance Blusher- Flushed
  • e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick- Ruby Slipper

Seriously my brows...

30 Day Song Challenge 25-30! Final DAYS!

Finally, I'm at the end of this series, it took me forever, I'm sorry, but I hope you enjoyed it!

Day 25: A song that makes you laugh
For Trinidad Carnival 2011, there was this song called "Wine to the Side" and the story told by Benji is hilarious. I cannot help singing, dancing and laughing along with this song.

Another one is actually from Barbados, Crop Over 2011 "I carry my Sheep in Town". Totally hilarious story, the guy (Stiffy) didn't know his girl friend was a sheep! HAHAHAHA!

Day 26: A song that you can play on an instrument
I can actually play piano, but I don't know any really fun songs. I can play parts of Asian drama themes and I know a bit of classical music that I had learnt for exams. This classical piece is one of my favourites.

Day 27: A song that you wish you could play
I always wished I could play Alicia Keys' "No One". I had actually started to learn it, but it's pretty hard, or I'm a noob.

Day 28: A song that makes you feel guilty
I think this is a hilarious question actually. I had to think hard on this one. I don't think is this all the relatable to me, but I really like Rihanna's "Unfaithful".

Day 29: A song from your childhood
I remember the days of Primary school dancehalls and hearing this, Lil Rick's "Dollar Wine".

Day 30: Your favourite song at this time last year
There's a lot of Lil Rick mentioned in these song posts, and here's another one to add to that list. "guh Down" by Lil Rick.

Minty Nails (NOTW)

Hey all, I painted my nails today and I liked the outcome much more than usual, so I decided I'd post some pictures of them. It's really nothing fancy, but I really liked the colours. I can barely try out designs  furthermore paint my nails, usually I'd try something and it would fail and I'd just remove all of the polish and be depressed about it for a bit. Then I wouldnt actually paint my nails for the next week or two.

When I paint my nails, I usually get lazy about taking off the polish and keep putting it off until it looks so bad I have to take it off. I cannot say this kind of post will be a regular one because I really suck at nails. ANYWAY, enough babbling on my horrid nail artistry on to the actual post.

I was inspried to do this by juicystar07( youtube), Blair Fowler who had been wearing some Essie nail polishes from the Brazilliant collection and I really liked the combination. Luckily enough I had very similar colours!

On My Nails:
e.l.f. Nail Polish in Mint Cream and Navy Blue (on bling finger)

I can honestly say that this came out well, though it's nothing fancy. I am pleased with the pigmentation of the navy blue polish, but the mint green is a bit sheer so 2-3 coats were needed. Anyway the end result is nice and I really like it.

Tell me what you think!
