Happy New Year!!

Just popping in to say... HAPPY 2013!! Have a Happy New Year and be sure to stay safe whatever you're doing!

I was trying to get a video up before midnight, but I'm not sure that will happen :(. Computer graphics card is having problems with editing and I'm trying to go easy on it. If I do get up a video, it won't be editied :(.

Do you usually do resolutions for the new year? IF so what are they? Typically I don't because change can happen at any time and to be honest, I always forget resolutions after January.

Anyway, I'm also going to go out and chill with my bf and my bff haha, so it should be an interesting night. I'll see you in the new year!

Maybelline Baby Lips Review

Today I havea review of a product I think I will mention in my Favourites of 2012, if I ever get around to making one. I'm still compiling my list for that. I am a lover  of lip balms and this one I've heard mixed reviews of, but I still decided to buy it and try it out. I'm extremely glad that I did, because I think I am in love with this lip balm, the Maybelline Baby Lips.

Ginessa had Sour Grapes and a Purple Fever (NOTW)

Hey all! I painted my nails kind of special for my birthday, which was in October and I wanted to show you guys. Sadly time got away from me and I ended up posting more time appropriate posts, but I still had pictures of my birthday nails. BTW excuse my awkward nail posing, I'm still trying to get the hang of it. It's not often that I paint these and tell them to pose.

Seasons Greetings! Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!
Image is not my own.

I'm up burning the midnight oil, not going to church in the morning or tonight, nor going to Queen's Park to show off my Christmas best like most Bajans on this day. I'm at home in my PJs, writing this post as some pots of food are on the stove haha. Yip I'm cooking, but I don't mind, I like the silence of the kitchen and the wonderful scents filling my lungs. My dad is up with me helping.. or may be I'm helping him, I'm not sure hahaha, but we're doing separate things and working together.

We're actually taking a break watching this church service as my dad hilariously jokes about the way the service is proceeding. We love God, don't get us wrong, but it's a little depressing to watch a Christmas service that goes as slow and dreary as a funeral service. We're supposed to be HAPPY that Christ came on this day.

I'm not gonna lie a few days ago, actually for most of the month I wasn't feeling very jolly, but the music, some events and maybe just the spirit got to me and told me to try harder to be happy about Christmas. If you watched my update video posted before this, you would know that I was not completely in the spirit of Christmas. I just kept thinking it was going to be horrible and for the most part it was, full of stress and arguments and I felt like giving up, but there was still that nudging feeling in my side, which told me to work a bit harder. After some really last minute cleaning, shopping and now cooking, I think I understand why. (usually I'm not a last minute person btw)

I think I wrote on it last year. The real meaning of Christmas, the coming of Jesus Christ. I may not be getting physical gifts this Christmas, but it has been a year filled with blessings from God, both physical and otherwise. I've had a year of ups and downs, and I would like to invite you to contemplate all the good moments you had, as I do the same and give God thanks.

I must get back to the pots now, I'm trying to get an early Christmas lunch this year. Usually the food is done by 3.. and I sleep like half the day because I dread it so much hahaha. Probably not this year. It'll  probably still be a bit of stress in the morning, but I'm going to hope for the best! I'll update you later if I'm not passed out from eating too much haha.

Happy Holidays everyone!!

7 things I'd love to receive! (Holiday Wishlist 2012)

Hey all! Gift guides are all out of the way, next is focusing on me! :) Here are 7 this which I would LOVE to receive!

In my gift guide for her, I mentioned a skin polisher from Sigma Beauty which is affordable and great, but something that I've always wanted was the Clarisonic. After watching rave reviews of it (usually Favourites videos on YouTube), I checked it out on Sephora and thought the price was insane! BUT, the holiday sets look really good (maybe this isn't even new but I digress)! This one particular set has the Clarisonic Plus in pink or white, with the regular brush, sensitive brush and the body brush. Along with a number of cleansers, serums and moisturisers from different brands. You also get the typical device stand, and a charger. Can I say deal for $225? I think it is compared to the price of the unit separately which is about $200 too.

7 Gifts for the "Person who has Everything"!

I don't know if you might have realised, but I skipped out gifts for siblings, because mine are all a lot older than me and don't live with me, so it's really hard for me to figure out just what they'd need without being obvious. However today I'm going to do a gift guide for the person who has just about everything  which could apply to siblings. As well as parents, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, just about anyone. I'm not much into useless gifts, so as long as they serve a good purpose, I'll give them as a gift.

I think a yummy-smelling or even an aromatherapy candle like those sold at Bath & Body Works, could be an inexpensive and thoughtful option as a gift for anyone. Sometimes filling a room with a comforting scent is just what you need, despite the tons of gadgets, books or other things the person may have. Here in Barbados, it may be a bit more difficult to find really nice scents, but there are some out there (check out Woolworth or grocery stores). In USA other brands also sell fragrant candles like Diamond Candles and Candles by Victoria. This is definitely a thoughtful gift, especially if you can pick out a scent which the receiver will love. If you're a bit cautious about candles, you could also get them bottled room scents or a diffuser.

5 Gifts for Mom & Dad!

Gifts for Mum & Dad (2012)

Parents are not always difficult to buy gifts, for especially when you're living with them or keep in close contact. Once you listen closely, it's pretty easy to find out what they want or need.

Apologies & a HUGE UPDATE!

Hey all! I had actually filmed a video with this update, but I think I may re-film it then post it here. My absence merits no excuse, besides that I was busy with life. I'm really sorry the posting during these last 3 months haven't been very consistent. I did try to, but I'd run out of ideas, haha. (woops)

As some of you may know, I'm in my final year of university and this semester, although I was doing less courses, the workload was still just as intense. Late hour labs, studying for tests, doing time-consuming tutorials (boy, does it take a while to get used to reading Science journals). On top of that, I had taken a position in the faculty's student committee, so I have to attend meetings sometimes. It is an interesting experience nonetheless.

Between going to school and coming back home usually more than 8 hours some days, I'd even up studying or doing assignments until late that night, not leaving time to blog or edit videos. Then I had a PC issue somewhere between there :(. It's weird but, I don't think my graphics card can handle editing with my current video maker, so I'm trying to work my way around that, until I could try to get another computer, maybe a laptop for editing. Suggestions would be appreciated! But for now, I updated a few drivers and I'm going to try editing again, maybe tonight.

Along with spending more time at school or just away from home, I've also been spending some more time with my friends. When I don't have too much work pending that is. This may be the last time we're in a setting like this, it's kind of sad, but hey life goes on.

I also picked up an activity besides the student committee. Something I've always wanted to get back into. Swimming. So almost every Saturday I've been doing that and pushing myself to get better. Some days it's really hard because the water is so cold, haha. But it's fun with the people around you to support you.  Definitely not a Olympic record swimmer, but I am happy I hadn't lost the knack for it completely.

My exams just finished and if I don't get a job this vacation, you'll probably be seeing (more likely reading) a lot more posts. I have a Holiday gift guide in the making. Trying to have that all up before 24th December, so you can get in all that shopping. I also had one last year which was very extensive, so you can check that out as well.

Until next post, I hope you're all doing well and I hope you spend the Holidays safely. If you still are having final exams, I wish you the best of luck, it'll be over soon!

Gifts for Her! (2012)

Barbados is 46!

Hey all! totally forgot to post this on here, BUT I did post it on YouTube early :), props for that. This was just a video of me showing you Bridgetown for National Independence. Do enjoy!

This independence, I slept in =/. Go figure, I was exhausted from school and exams are about here, so I made the best of the time I had to sleep. So unpatriotic of me, but there will be more and hopefully I won't be doing any final exams or school to make me miss it.

HAPPY belated INDEPENDENCE to all the Bajans!!!!

Your Queries answered!

November again and Barbados turns 46!

Hey all! I've done a post on this last year, but my beautiful island (Barbados) is going to be independent for 46 years as of 2012! I hope all you Bajans out there are being patriotic especially this month!

I love it that my island puts up decorations and special lights just to celebrate, despite the decreasing number of patriots these days. Furthermore, I've seen Christmas displays up in some stores and honestly, although you want to encourage people to shop for Christmas, why can't you wait until mid-way through November to put those displays out (seen some from the beginning of November). It's very disrespectful to our National Independence, and please do not start me on who commercial and meaningless Christmas has also become.

Regardless, I'd like to thank God for letting our island see another year going strong, despite financial crisis and all that is wrong with the world these days. I also have a video planned celebrating our independence, but until then, you can read this post if you know nothing about Barbados' Inpedence, or if you just want to brush up on your knowledge.

Symbols & Embellems
Happy 45th Independence!

For those Bajans out there, are you goign to be attending the Independence parade? If I go would you like to see a vlog? Or who you rather see a Barbados-inspired make up look?

Nivea Extra Gentle Eye Make-up Remover REVIEW

I recently purchased the Nivea Extra Gentle Eye Make-up remover from Collins pharmacy (maybe mid October). It was pretty affordable and you got a good set of product, so I wanted to give it a try.

He Surprised me!

I know I hadn't blogged much about my life since my birthday post. I've actually been quite busy with lab write ups and essays for these final weeks through the wringer. BUT, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday! Tyrell, my boyfriend as you may know, threw a surprise birthday party for me at the beach with some of my closest friends :).

It was the biggest highlight of my week! I may do a video on my birthday, though I'm not sure how much of the video is usable because we were on the beach at night, and then the light kind of went out and we were just left with candles, hahaha!

Nonetheless, it was so much fun and I know a lot of planning and care went into it. Usually I plan outings/events and sometimes I feel like I would pull my hair out when things aren't running on schedule and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. This was huge! Tyrell did a great job at keeping me guessing, especially since I had a feeling that he would do it, but then my friends (who he got in on it) actually played some leading and confusing roles in this crazy production. Pretending to forget when my birthday, and even asking me to go to a practice on the same day with them, hahaha.

Every thing was just perfect! But, more on that in a vlog, it's so much easier to yap yap yap, than to type sometimes hahaha. So stay tuned if you want to see that. ALSO I will include the outfit that I wore on my birthday :)

AND in case you are not sure who Tyrell is, check out this video!

Should I still post this?

Hey everyone, I had actually recorded two Halloween looks this year. Sadly I had only been able to edit one. Would you like me to post the other one either way?  Here's a preview:

It's Gyaru -inspired. Though I'm not extremely educated on this style,  this is what I've gathered from it. Doll-like, cute, sweet and innocent looking.

So  should I still post the video?

Model 21 Lashes Review-2T

Today, I have a review for you all on Faux Eyelashes from Model 21 Eyelashes, visit the website at http://www.model21eyelashes.com! I received this sample box for free, however it does not mean my opinions on the product are biased. I have had some time to try the lashes, and here's what I think of them thus far.

The packaging is very cute, and easy to open. If you go on the Model 21 website, they specifically warn people about retailers on Amazon selling counterfeit 10 pair boxed eyelashes. However they have changed their packaging to remedy that problem. I really do like this packaging, very simplistic but girly. This box contains 10 lashes, 2 of each lash styles 2T, 3T, 19T, 40T and 63.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Hey everyone!! Today is my Birthday! MY 21st Birthday! I can't believe how fast I've gotten to 21! I remember entering University at 18 thinking it would be a while before I got here, but really it just seems like time has flown by without me realising one bit. I've made it though and plenty has happened in this year of being 20. I can't wait to get to more milestones, though it also means I'm getting older. Hopefully older and wiser hahaha.

I'm actually quite proud that so many of my goals for myself has come through by this time. It was a lot harder to make happen then one would think. Not everything went as planned, but a lot has went well, and I thank God for that. I'm in my final year of university and about to start on a new part of my life. I'd like to thank all my friends and family (especially my Dad) for their support of me, not only this month or this year, but my entire life. Those people who have stuck with me for every, those who I feel like they have been there forever.

Thank you also to you my online supporters and fellow blogger and YouTubers!

I probably am going to blog my evening, right now I' m doing work for a presentation tomorrow and painting my nails for tonight haha.

Until next post!

(Late) Back to School Lookbook

Hey all! I actually thought I had posted this video here ages ago, until I looked into my posted and realised, there's none for this.

As I was asked, I created a school lookbook back in August for Back to school, however when classes started in September, I hadn't the time to edit right away. But I made sure to put aside some time and edited the heck out of this video. Honestly I suck as the posing and being fun while showing off the clothes for videos hahaha. I guess I'll have to get better at it, but it is awkward standing there twirling for no apparent reason lol. Anyway here is the anticipated video.

For school comfort is key and I am usually a jeans and Tee shirt girl, very simplistic and easy to throw on when you're in a rush, but in this video, I should you some of my more thought out looks (some of these I've actually worn to school).  (also I forgot to say I'm not much of an accessories person, I hardly ever buy any).

What I wore:

Striped stretch cotton Skirt- H&M
Purple Snakeskin flats (old)- Kenneth Cole

Oxblood for Fall 2012

This colour has been popping up just about every where. It's a new take on the classic fall red or burgundy. A rich statement colour which personally I think the name is gruesome. I think this colour would only be trendy for fall and winter, unlike tango tangerine and minty green which has become staples in the wardrobe of many style gurus, bloggers and just about everyone.

If I wanted to be a part of this new trend, I'd definitely pick inexpensive pieces which may not last a lifetime but, you won't be stuck with the colour years down the line trying to figure out what you were thinking.

As you could probably tell, I am not in love with this trend, it's more my style to wear a darker lip colour rather than clothing items in maroon hues if I want something fall-inspired. Anyway I put together this office-appropriate outfit, momentarily inspired by the colour.

Oxblood Inspired Me

What do you think of Fall's new colour? Would you dare to wear it or rather stick to darker dramatic make up for Autumn?

I hope you enjoy the video of the 80s make up. Look out for my second tutorial coming really soon! Nt sure if I'll have time for a scary look, but there are tons of great ones on the internet. excuse the phone but the lighting here was really good and I couldn't get off the phone at the moment hahah. (kinda 80s though gabbing on the phone chewing gum and twirling your hair?)

As I promised, here's the costume ideas to match!

Kicking it back 80s Style (Halloween Costume ideas)

I found a lot of information and inspiration from this webpage.

Casual College Fall (outfit)

Hey all just a a quick outfit for you guys!

I had a dream this one time and I'm sure in that dream I saw this really nice patterned skirt  and top like this..
HAHA got you there didn't I?

I was actually at school one day and this girl passed me in the beautiful patterned skirt, and I fell in love with it. Then later that same day, if I remember correctly, a light cardigan triggered me to match the two in my head. What do you know, I went on polyvore and found a pretty nice patterned skirt, definitely not as pretty as the one the girl worn, but I really do love the colour of the cardigan.

If it were Fall in Barbados (as we never gt a pronounced Autumn season), I could see myself sporting this on a warm (not hot or nippy) day. Including the heels! I actually am in love with those and the bag. I used to have a bag with a similar style and stopped wearing it years back. It's funny to see the style has returned.

Sadly, as a science student, this outfit is not as practical as it would be for others, but I still love it to pieces! What do you think? Would you change anything about it?

Coloured Bottoms: From Spring to Summer to Fall 2012

I remember in the Spring and Summer, coloured bottoms were all the rage, now this trend continues to Fall 2012.  As seen on the  Mercedes Benz Fashion Week runway, Anna Sui in particular, had her models rocking jewel-toned tights and matching frocks. I loved seeing the contrasting outfits, with blue dresses and green tights.

I doubt I’ve ever be as daring as to wear a fully contrasting combo such as those pictured, but I definitely would like to try the coloured bottoms style. (Yea, I still have nabbed the perfect pair of bright bottoms yet)

What do you think of coloured bottoms taking a turn for Fall? Would you rock the contrasting combos as seen with Anna Sui?
